What is an Effective Church?

According to what Jesus taught us, a church should go out into the world, not be confined to four walls. "One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision and told him, 'Don't be afraid! Speak out! Don't be silent! For I am with you...'" Acts 18:9-10. An effective church is caring, loving, open-armed, and non-judgemental. Jesus ate with the worst of the sinners, and so should we.

An effective church's mission is Love. It's pathway is prayer & praise. It's destination is Jesus.

The church is the body of Christ not a building, true. As representatives of this body we are most effective when obedient to God's will in our life and in the life of His church (or body). I agree with dmcornelius in that it is a mission of love. But it extends beyond a welcoming committee, it is a place to be nurtured and to grow spiritually. It is a place that welcomes all regardless of station in life or the way you look or dress. It takes committed individuals who serve and sacrifice for His sake and His love.
